Don't hesitate to ask for help...
Bill Gates warns that while the majority of jobs may go, but these three will withstand the AI revolution.
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has made a prediction: within ten years, artificial intelligence may make the majority of employment useless as it rapidly enters almost every industry. However, there is still hope because, in Gates' opinion, three occupations will be essential in a future where AI rules:
🔹 Programmers and Coders
Gates thinks human programmers will be in demand for at least a century, even with the advancements in AI-generated code. Why? Because even the most sophisticated AI cannot completely replace the creativity, flexibility, and abstract problem-solving abilities needed for valid software development.
🔹 Energy Professionals
Energy professions require in-depth contextual understanding and practical application, from grid efficiency to renewable energy transitions. According to Gates, AI cannot manage these jobs on its own because they are too dynamic and complicated.
🔹 Scientists
Biological systems are complex, nonlinear, and morally delicate. AI may help, but only human biologists understand the ethical oversight required by science to navigate the complex realities of genetics, ecological effect, and living systems.
In a March 2025 interview with CNBC, Gates discussed these observations and cautioned that in the years to come, professions like education and medicine would become heavily automated. However, your knowledge is more important than ever for people working in biology, sustainable energy, and coding.
