Who is Anok Yai and how she became one of the highest-paid female model in the world?

Anok Yai was attending Howard University's homecoming in 2017 when a photographer snapped her picture, which became popular on the internet right away. Four months later, she opened a Prada show in Milan, becoming the first model from Sudan and just the second Black woman after Naomi Campbell. 

Anok, who grew up in the United States after his South Sudanese parents fled genocide, had first wanted to become a doctor. But her abrupt ascent to stardom changed her path. 

She has since been featured on many Vogue covers, walked for high-end fashion brands including Chanel, Versace, and Louis Vuitton, and won Model of the Year in 2023. Her transformation from a random college shot to a global supermodel signifies a significant shift in the ideals of beauty in the fashion industry.
