What shocking warning did Sam Altman reveal about using ChatGPT for discussing your most private information?

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, has issued a severe caution to anyone using ChatGPT for counseling or therapy. Your conversations aren't protected by law and might be used against you in court.

In a recent interview on Theo Vonn's This Past Weekend podcast, Atlman warned that while people are increasingly using chatbots to solve personal issues, OpenAI cannot stop those interactions from being used as evidence.

Therefore, we could have to provide that if you go to ChatGPT and discuss your most private information and there is a lawsuit or whatever. When asked about the legal foundation for AI, Altman responded, "And I think that's very screwed up."

Additionally, OpenAI is obligated to keep track of all your deleted interactions as a result of a case that The New York Times is now investigating.

Altman claims on the podcast that a legislative or policy framework for AI is required. "At the moment, there is legal privilege for discussing those issues with a doctor, therapist, or attorney. Secrecy between a doctor and patient, legal confidentiality, etc. And as for when you speak with ChatGPT, we haven't worked it out yet," Altman stated. "I believe that the idea of privacy should apply to interactions with AI in the same way that it does to those with therapists or other professionals.
